A Babysitter's Guide to Monster Hunting

A lot happens on Halloween. Adults go to parties. Children go for treats. And monsters come out of the closet to kidnap little kids. When five-year-old Jacob, Kelly's ward, is abducted by nocturnal creatures, she doesn't know what to do. At that age, she herself was attacked by a boogeyman, but no one believed her. In fact, the kids at school started calling her "Monster Girl." And although she insists that she's only afraid of real things now (like climate change, inequality, talking to boys, and everything she reads on Twitter), if she tells people that Jacob was abducted by monsters, they'll think she's really gone crazy. The Order of Nannies comes to the rescue. The order consists of teenagers who survived monster attacks as a child-just like Kelly. The Order is a secret organization whose goal is to protect children from everything that happens in the night. At first, Kelly is only worried about getting Jacob back before his mom returns. But after Liz (the vice president of the Rhode Island chapter of the Order) and the other nannies find out that Jacob has been kidnapped by Big Guignol-in fact, the royal boogeyman-they realize that the whole world is at stake. It turns out that Jacob and Kelly have more in common than just a fear of monsters. They both have the "Gift of Dreams" ability, which allows them to make their dreams come true. That's why Kelly was targeted as a child. And if the Order doesn't save him quickly, Big Guignol will revive Jacob's nightmares and unleash an army of monsters on the world. Not to mention that if she loses the baby, Kelly's parents will take her life.
