After We Fell

So, the plot of the film is dramatic again, but mainly demonstrates the unstable relationship between Tessa and Hardin. Tessa tries to reconcile with her father, although Hardin warns her against this idea, and eventually allows him to stay in their shared apartment with Hardin. Tessa sees similarities between her father, who struggles with addiction, and Hardin's father, Ken, who struggles with alcohol and lives separately from Hardin's mother. Problems with Tessa's father are at the heart of the plot of the novel "After Our Fall", and the remaining 850 pages are filled with the drama of friendship, Tessa struggles with her desire to move to Seattle and at the same time keep Hardin, and the couple struggles with the dynamics of their relationship. The novel goes into some extremely disturbing places, which, as we have already said, should never arise in an Irl relationship. Hardin sabotages Tessa's apartment rental in Seattle a few days before she was supposed to move there for her dream job, uses another girl (who happens to be a singer) to make Tessa jealous, and eventually they break up. There is also a rather unpleasant moment when Tessa's alleged friends drug her and film her being sexually assaulted as part of a "revenge" plan.
