Plot of the film "Dune"
Adapting the first half of Frank Herbert's original novel, "Dune" tells the story of warring houses not on the planet, but in space. At the center of the conflict is the resource melange, or spice, which can only be found on the desert planet Arrakis, also known as Dune, and which allows you to travel faster than light in space. In addition, it has hallucinogenic properties, which probably explains the demand for it. House Harkonnen ruled Dune with a heavy hand for many years, which led them to an ongoing conflict with the blue-eyed natives of Freman. By a sudden decree of the emperor, the rival House of Atreides is given responsibility for the management of the planet, which House Harkonnen is now forced to abandon (along with the monopoly on spices). For the viewer, we all know this from the very beginning, and there are a healthy number of foreshadows that make us understand that the responsibility that House Atreides has taken is a poisoned chalice. For all the praise for the visual and acting in Dune, we tend to forget that one of the biggest spectacles in the world is the presence of massive giant sandworms, which all factions on the planet have to fight.
