Plot of the film "Stowaway"
The spacecraft MTS-42 under the command of Marina Barnett is sent to Mars on a two-year mission. There are two other astronauts on board the ship: Zoey Levenson, a medical researcher, and David Kim, a biologist. David is studying experiments with algae that he is going to grow on Mars to create oxygen on the planet. This is the purpose of their mission. Things turn sour when they discover an uninvited crew member, Michael Adams, trapped on the ship's panel. Michael is a stowaway, that is, a traveler who got on the ship as an intruder. Michael worked as a launch support engineer and got stuck in the panel during the launch. The conflict erupts when Commander Marina informs the crew that the CDRA, a system that removes carbon dioxide from the air, was accidentally destroyed when Michael's body got stuck in the panel. As a result, there was only enough oxygen on the ship for 3 crew members, and they had to make a quick decision regarding the uninvited guest. Marina asks David to use his experimental algae to create oxygen for the ship, but when the algae doesn't work, the crew only has enough oxygen left for two people on board. Looking at their deplorable condition, Zoey insists on getting liquid oxygen from the booster proposed by the dispatcher. The only problem is that to get oxygen, an astronaut must go into outer space and perform extravehicular activity, reaching the launch vehicle. The method is extremely risky and untested, but Zoey decides to hit the road. Following his spirit, David accompanies her.
