He goes on a military campaign as a mercenary. There, the main character has the honor to lead a small army, which in battle demonstrated unprecedented courage and that their forces should not be underestimated even by the prevailing enemy. The key character himself in the battle was fearless and courageous, but it cost him an eye. When the king found out that his courtier had fought on the side of the French, he became very angry and drove Jan out of the palace. That's why the main character had to organize a detachment of peasants who had not previously held weapons in their hands. But he was such a talented commander that even from such warriors he made a fortified group capable of repulsing the enemy. The army, which was inferior to the enemy in terms of quantity and professionalism, adequately defended its hometown. In this battle, Yang demonstrated no less amazing qualities than in his first fight, which also cost him an eye. The soldiers fearlessly went on the attack under the skilful leadership of the hero, and his innovation became the basis for the creation of fortifications used by many generations in future wars.
