Plot of the film "Joker"
The action of "Joker" takes place in Gotham City around 1981. Arthur Fleck is a clown of Ha-Ha's company, as well as a stand-up comedian. While performing one of the tasks of the Haha company, a group of teenage punks steals his sign, which he uses to advertise the store. Arthur chases them into an alley, but they pounce on him and smash the sign over his head, after which they mercilessly beat him. This attack comes at a time when crime, unemployment and poverty are rampant in Gotham. After the attack, Arthur comes to the social worker for medication because he suffers from a mental disorder that makes him laugh at the wrong time. During the bus ride home from her office, a small child looks at Arthur, who makes silly faces to amuse the boy. However, his mother doesn't like it. She tells Arthur to leave the boy alone. In response, Arthur laughs hysterically at her and hands her a postcard in which he explains his mental state. When Arthur returns home, we meet his sick mother Penny, with whom he lives. When they watch a talk show with host Murray Franklin, Arthur introduces himself on the show. In his little fantasy, Arthur conquers both Murray and the audience with his touching story about taking care of his mother. Their life cannot be called happy, and money is tight. Penny, who used to work for Thomas Wayne, writes to him to see if he can help make their lives a little easier.
