Plot of the film "The Boys"
Compound-V is a mysterious drug used by Vought's superhumans as a performance stimulant, as well as something of a recreational drug among superhumans. Easily abused, it caused A-Train to have a heart attack in the season 1 finale. The guys also discovered that Compound-V - far from being just a performance-enhancing drug - is being used by Vought to create superheroes from ordinary people, often by injecting children, and their families are well paid for it. Thus, superpowers are not God-given, as the evangelical side would like to believe, and are not inherited naturally, but are created - and therefore belong to the company. At the end of the first season, Gomelander admitted that he himself created supervillains by supplying them with Compound-V. In the last minutes of the first season, we learn that Billy Butcher's wife Becca is not only alive, but also the mother of Gomelander's son. It's unclear exactly what Gomelander's intentions are - he might just show it to Butcher to piss him off, or maybe he wants to see if superpowers can be passed down to Superman's descendants. In any case, the fact that he chose his blood rival's ex-wife for this is rather sadistic. I hope nothing bad happens to the poor child.
