Elite

The drama is set in - you guessed it - an elite Spanish private school at two defining moments in the lives of its characters. In the past, three new scholarship students enter the school and quickly change the accepted social order. In the present, one of the students is killed and everyone is under suspicion. With this staging of class warfare, which turns into murder and intrigue, a bunch of (my favorite) clichés from teen series do not immediately appear. In just a couple of acts, fellows Samuel (Itzan Escamilla), Christian (Miguel Herrán) and Nadia (Mina El Hammani) find themselves at the epicenter of three classic storylines. Samuel has a crush on Marina (Maria Pedraza), the "free spirit" of the school, who does her best to rebel against the slick world of her parents' extreme wealth. (Marina's older brother, Guzmán (Miguel Bernardo), is Elite's top rich jerk with a heart of gold (see: "Veronica Mars"), making him the perfect candidate to take his girlfriend Lou (Danna Paola) on a bet to seduce the most unlikely girl who will fall in love with him (see: all other high school movies) In this case it is Nadia, a diligent student who is just trying to be the "good Muslim girl" her father expects her to be despite Lou's taunts and the school's insistence on removing the hijab, which they mistakenly consider to be an "accessory".
