Plot of the film "Run Hide Fight"
"Escape: evacuate if possible. To hide: quietly hide in a safe place. Fight: take action to stop the shooter." This is standard advice given to schoolchildren in the United States, a country where school shootings occur 240 times more often than in other economically successful countries of comparable size. The fact that children have to live with this almost constant state of fear is psychologically damaging in itself, but perhaps to a lesser extent for the heroine of this film, Zoey, who in any case is numb from all this because of the recent loss of her mother. Her father is trying to do everything possible for her, or at least distract her from it. When we first see them, they go hunting together. She doesn't need the encouraging words he expects. The speed with which she takes violent actions hints at a deep trauma, but she's still not ready to talk. The main part of the film focuses on what happens when this already troubled teenager gets caught up in a school shooting. Throughout most of the film, the plot is borrowed from Die Hard. She happens to be in another place when a hostage situation arises and she has the opportunity to escape, but she wants to help those who are trapped. She spends quite a lot of time limping around in a soiled vest or making her way through air vents.
