Aladdin

The film takes place on the sea, where a sailor sails with his wife and two children, Omar and Lian. He begins to tell the children a fairy tale about a street rat, a princess and a magic lamp. The children ask him to sing, because that's how he tells stories better, and then he continues ("Arabian Nights") and takes us to the kingdom of Agrabah. Somewhere outside the city, the evil sorcerer Jafar and his parrot Iago are standing at the Cave of Wonders and waiting for their pawn to enter there and get the treasure, but the Cave rejects everyone it considers unworthy, burying them deep in the sand until it finds a "diamond in a rough cloth". At the Agrabah market we meet Aladdin, who lives alone with his pet monkey Abu and survives by cunning and what he can get. He pawns a small item to get a bag of dates, but gives it to a family that needs food more than he does. Elsewhere in the market, Princess Jasmine, disguised as a commoner, takes some food from a shop and distributes it to small children. The shop owner tries to punish Jasmine for this, until Aladdin intervenes and uses Jasmine's bracelet as payment for food. However, he immediately returns the bracelet back and changes it before the shopkeeper finds out about it and sends the palace guards after Aladdin.
