Bad Boys for Life

In Mexico, Isabel Aretas, the wife of the late cartel leader Benito Aretas, escapes from prison with the help of her son Armando. Once free, Isabel sends her son to Miami for the money hidden by her husband before his death. She also instructs him to kill several people whom she considers responsible for her imprisonment and her husband's death. She gives Armando specific instructions: Miami Detective Mike Lowry should be the last to be killed. Meanwhile, in Miami, Mike accompanies his partner Marcus Burnett to the birth of his first grandchild. During the trip, Marcus tells his friend that he is going to retire to spend more time with his family. Mike doesn't like the idea of Marcus retiring because he believed they would always be partners. They attend a birthday party for Marcus' grandson, and Mike gets shot by Armando on the street outside the bar. Mike goes into a coma for six months. Isabelle is outraged that Mike was shot, as she instructed her son to kill him last, but Armando continues to kill other people while Mike is in a coma. Waking up from a coma, Mike decides to find the man who shot him. He tries to lure Marcus out of retirement for one last trip, but Marcus refuses and tries to convince Mike to retire too. Mike is angry that his friend does not support his desire for revenge, and they quarrel.
