Stillwater

Having lost his job as an oilman, Bill Baker, in order to survive in Stillwater, Oklahoma, gets a number of strange construction jobs. He visits his exhausted mother-in-law Sharon to find out about her daughter Allison. Allison was convicted of murdering her neighbor and lover Hamdi Lin. She was sentenced to 9 years in prison in Marseille, France, of which she has already served four. So far, Sharon has been visiting Allison regularly, but this time she begs Bill to see her daughter after four years in prison. Since there is no work, and Sharon takes care of all the expenses, Bill flies to Marseille. In prison, he meets Allison, and after an awkward conversation between estranged father and daughter, Allison asks Bill to hand over her letter to her lawyer, Maitre Leparc. In her letter, Allison informs the master about the rumors of her professor Patrick Okonedo, in which a guy named Akim appears. Akim approached Patrick's student, Suad, at a party. He claimed that he stabbed a girl a few years ago and got away with it. Alison and Patrick think that Akim must be the same guy who killed Lina. However, Leparc refuses to participate in such a conspiracy and believes that the judge will never open a case based on rumors. Alison hopes that Lepark will accept her request and help her investigate Akim's case. Bill does not want to disappoint his daughter and therefore decides to dive into the business on his own.
