Plot of the film "The Unholy"
The film takes place in 1845 from the point of view of a young woman. She is hung from a tree and a mask is nailed to her face, after which the residents of the city set her on fire and cast a spell, holding the doll to the woman's face. Her charred corpse remains hanging from a tree a few hours later. The real day - In the town of Banfield, Massachusetts, disgraced journalist Jerry Fenn receives a message that something is happening nearby. He goes to investigate because the farmer believes that his cow was marked by a cult, but Jerry decides that it was just this man's son who painted Metallica M. Then Jerry hears something that beckons him to the nearest tree, where he finds a burnt doll similar to the one he saw in the last scene, with the date February 31, 1845 engraved on it. Then Jerry steps on the doll's head and smashes it. That evening, Jerry drives out of town and turns off the road when he sees a young woman Alice Paget in the middle of the road. She approaches the same tree that Jerry had approached earlier, and mutters something, after which she loses consciousness. Jerry takes her to the house of Hagan's father, who is Alice's uncle. He calls Dr. Natalie Gates, and it turns out that Alice is deaf and dumb, which means that Jerry would not be able to hear her speak. Natalie accuses Jerry of trying to hurt Alice.
