Plot of the film "Awake"
Jill Adams is a corporal in the sixty-eighth Whiskey (Department of Military Professional Specialties). She steals drugs from the institution and sells them, earning extra money. Jill has two children - a teenager Noah and a younger daughter Matilda, who is raised by Jill's mother. Jill was a drug abuser and an absent parent. Everything was going on as usual, when suddenly all the electronic equipment stopped working. Jill and her children are hit by a car, which pushes them into the river, dragging Matilda with it. Fortunately, the sheriff saves her life and advises Jill to take her to the hospital. A chaotic scenario awaits the family in the hospital. First, they will find out that all electronic equipment (medical machines) has failed. But that's not all. Patients in a coma have risen from a long sleep. How? Everyone is interested. Dr. Murphy suggested that the solar flare hit the Earth and changed its electromagnetic wiring. At first they thought it only ruined electronic gadgets. But this event also changed people's brains. They stopped sleeping. Lack of sleep affected the work of the human glymphatic system. It is a network of vessels that purify waste from the central nervous system during sleep. Lack of sleep led to dysfunctional brain activity, which caused people to hallucinate and they began to kill each other.
