Plot of the film "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers"

The action of the film begins with the collapse of the Brotherhood, when Merry and Pippin are captured by the orcs after the death of Boromir in battle. The Orcs, having heard the prophecy that one of the hobbits will wear a Ring that gives the owner universal power, mistakenly believe that Merry and Pippin are the Ring bearers. Several other members of the Brotherhood, including Gimli, Legolas and Aragorn, decide to pursue Merry and Pippin. They follow the Hobbits' footsteps through fields and forests, constantly wary of orcs. The group meets the riders of Rohan, led by Eomer. Meanwhile, Merry and Pippin return to the Orcs' headquarters when Orcs from another tribe, the Uruk-hai, kidnap them in pursuit of a Ring they believe the Hobbits are carrying. Pippin and Merry escape from the orcs and go to the forest near the Entwash River, where they are friends with an ent (a giant tree-like creature) named Fangorn. Fangorn offers the Hobbits food and hands them over to the Ent meeting. There, the Ents decide to start a war against the Orcs of Isengard (creatures controlled by the corrupted wizard Saruman), who have been cruel to them. Meanwhile, Saruman pursues Aragorn and his group during their journey through the forest. Then Gandalf appears to them, reborn after his death in the "Brotherhood of the Ring" as Gandalf the White, also known as the White Rider. Gandalf leads Aragorn's group to Edoras, to the Golden Hall of King Theoden. There, Gandalf exposes Theoden's advisor, Chervetong, as a spy of the evil Saruman. Gandalf also promotes the reunion of Theoden and Eomer.
