Plot of the film "Purple Hearts"
Cassie Salazar works as a waitress and performs songs of her own authorship. She was recently diagnosed with diabetes mellitus. Because of her small income, she cannot buy insulin. Her introduction to Luke the Marine was sudden. His life is not going well either. The death of his mother significantly affected him, he began taking illegal substances. He has been tied up for two years, but still owes the dealer (John). The young man has a bad relationship with his father, his brother refused to help. One day Cassie offers her friend to use health insurance, but is refused. Luke overhears this conversation and realizes that their financial difficulties are solved by marriage. One day Cassie is informed that Luke was wounded in the war, which is why he is now confined to a wheelchair. After discharge, he moves in with her. John begins to aggressively demand repayment of the debt. Almost immediately, Luke gives him the money, and then beats him up. As revenge, the dealer tells the police about the fictitious marriage of Luke and Cassie, which is why he is detained by the police. During the hearing, Luke pleads guilty, defending Cassie in every possible way, assuring her of her ignorance. He was sentenced to six months in prison. When he returns, their story ends with a happy ending.
